Lewes Wanderers Cycling Club can trace its roots back to the late 19th Century. After a brief hiatus for the Second World War, the club was reformed in 1950 as the Lewes-Newhaven Road Club. On November 14th 1950, at a meeting in the Brewers Arms, it was decided to drop the Lewes Newhaven RC name and the Lewes Wanderers Cycling Club was formed.
Now the club has more than 80 active members and celebrated its Platinum Jubilee in 2025.

Whether it’s The Forge ride and café stop on a Saturday or a memorable trip to Wells for the Somerset Sportive, Lewes Wanderers has given him experiences he’ll never forget.
And the club isn’t just about long-distance social rides. As Paul Fletcher points out, Lewes Wanderers caters to all types of cyclists, from those who enjoy time-trialling, road racing, and cyclocross to those who prefer a more relaxed pace. It’s a club built on shared enthusiasm, where new riders are welcomed, and experienced cyclists help guide the next generation.
