New for this Year:
- Chip Timing
- Revision to series points e.g. no double points during race 3
- Enter all 3 to qualify for series points
- General Classification – the highest finishing position in race 3 taken into account in the event of a series points tie
The Lewes Crits can be entered by following the links below:
|Race 1||Race 2||Race 3|
50 riders are allowed in each race. Race acceptance is at the discretion of the organisers to help avoid the pitfalls of the previous ‘first come first served’ system.
Each cycling club will be restricted to a maximum of 7 riders therefore please consider who’ll be racing and in which races during the series. Places will be reserved for women riders and we'd like to achieve a good balance between the numbers of 3rd and 4th category riders in teams. These criteria are designed to encourage team racing, to discourage dominance by a few clubs and to encourage more women and newer riders.
Racing is not possible without the following:
- Valid Race Licence which must be shown at registration
- A Helmet
Please check out British Cycling’s Race Smart to help with safe racing.
4th Category Riders:
We strongly suggest 4th cat riders who are new to road racing complete a racers training session. These training sessions are designed to teach racing bunch etiquette which is proven to help minimise incidents, particularly during sprints and cornering.
After completing two novice Training Courses a Race Accreditation card is sent out, which enables 4th Cat racers to enter Surrey League and SERRL road races. The club may reject rider entry, if lack of experience of the entrant is considered a danger to others.
Upcoming courses are listed below:
If you miss that, other dates are becoming available all the time and can easily be found by either searching for “Novice Racer” at RiderHQ or by clicking here.
Note for Lewes Wanderer 4th Cats - As an incentive the club will refund the cost to first claim members of completing the training courses. A Race Accreditation card is sent to those who have completed two Novice Training courses and the refund will be paid on presentation of copies to the Treasurer (this can be done by email).
