Reports:
Secretary: Anne Baker reported that due to Covid restrictions only 3 committee meetings
had been held during the year. Any emails sent to the club had been replied to.
Membership Secretary: Anne Baker reported that there had been 121 members in 2021, 75
of whom had renewed their membership (10 were female).
Treasurer: Graham Jeffs reported that the club were in a strong financial position and that
due to Covid restrictions there had been little financial activity. The bank balance was
£9286.10. He asked for suggestions on items needed by the club. Suggestions were new
race numbers and a new radio. It was agreed to look into this. There had been a dispute with
Paypal after a change in regulations changing the club status from Club to Sole Trader. This
would hopefully be resolved soon.
Press Secretary: Paget Cohen reported a lack of events to report on. He had submitted 27
reports in 2021, compared with 40 previously. Reports need to be in with Sussex Express by
Tuesday so he is having to chase up results Monday evening. There is also a shortage of
photos of members in club kit. He asked members to report their races and results.
Women’s Representative: Gina reported sending out a questionnaire at the beginning of the
2021asking what women want from the club. She would do the same this year and go ahead
and organize events.
Time Trial Secretary: report unavailable.
Road/Track Secretary: Dan reported
2021 – 4 members road racing fairly consistently across various regions and events – from
Cyclopark to Sussex, Surrey and Kent races and 1 member had participated in Track racing.
Club road/track racing promotion 2022
Facebook and email round up of races/ events. Promoting our own race series, LWCC crits
on Laughton Circuit
LWCC chaingang session – first Wed evening after clocks go forward _6th April 2022.
Chaingang was well attended in 2021 despite not very good weather – like to build on that
this year.
Trainsharp CG – the crossover with the Trainsharp session seems to work well – there is a
training benefit to having a CG session on a Saturday, on a different circuit for Lewes
Wanderers, in that they can access two sessions a week if they want to. The Ripe circuit is a
good alternative to the Laughton circuit and the LWCC CG offers a good difference in terms
of CG, especially for Wanderers who might be new to the session or find the Laughton circuit
too busy in terms of traffic.
We would also like to see what appetite there is for another track session at the London
Velodrome in September.
Cyclo Cross:Number of Wanderers taking part in races in 21/22 is 5. Down on previous
years due to people moving on from the club and probably the pandemic factor.
LWCC Crits:First 3 Thursdays in June – 2nd, 9th and 16th.
Beginning the process of booking the infrastructure this week
Look at using chip timing again this year
Looking at changing to the Chailey circuit for the middle race (th June.
( Bob Evans asked about risk assessment for the changed route. Darren Haynes would
speak to Dan)
Off Road Time Trial : Potential venue on Firle Estate land – on the east side of the BoPeep
car park, with the use of the car park as event HQ. Looking at either 24th April, 8th May or
22nd May.
