Minutes of previous meeting were distributed and no matters arising.
Reports:
Chairman; This was our first year back after Covid. We need to encourage more members
and get all members more involved in the running of club events. We need more photos of
members wearing their club kit. The club shop is open for 3 weeks for purchasing new race
kit.
Secretary: Not a lot to report. Any correspondence to the club had either been replied to or
forwarded to appropriate committee member.
Membership Secretary: 96 members in 2022. 10 female members, mainly due to Gina’s
efforts. 59 have already renewed for 2023, as usual quite a few members seemed to be
waiting until nearer the racing season to renew. The club had held a prizegiving/ social
evening in November 2022 for those who had won awards for the 2021 season.
Treasurer: Graham’s report was given by Anne Baker, in his absence. Finances are still
healthy with not many outgoings during the year. He suggested that the Membership fees
remain the same for 2023.
Club Run Coordinator: Paget said he had tried to organise runs in accordance with members
preferences. 2 Saturday rides from the Forge in Ringmer In the summer were well attended.
Sunday rides were more social with good turnout. Chris Hough had been leading off road
rides, trying to link stops with club runs. These would continue in 2023. There is a Whatsapp
group for regular riders so information can be shared. Might consider starting from different
place. The basis of this was the questionnaire distributed by Darren Haynes. Gina may lead
a later start ride if required.
Women’s Representative: Gina reported that the club had been represented by female
members in time trials, road racing,Cyclo cross and track racing. Gina had been awarded a
trophy for track racing at Preston Park.2-3 members were taking part in club runs. Ladies
were saying they were keen to learn bike skills and do training/chaingang rides.
Time Trial Secretary: Good number of entries from club members and others. There were
also some new to time trialling taking part aswell as more experienced riders. More of the
same in 2023 , club time trial details on the website. Joe also said that due to a change of
job he would not be as available in 2023 so others would need to step in to help run/organise
events and that he would not carry on as TT Secretary after 2023.
Road/Track Secretary: Lewes Crits had taken place after a 2 year break. Extra safety-AMS
now mandatory. We do need event sponsorship, otherwise events may not happen. A small
number of members rode at the track last year and it would be good to build on the numbers.
Same with Cyclo Cross. Forge rides were a success and hopefully build on that this year.
Start in March. Chaingang starts when clocks go forward.
Press Secretary: Reports had been sent regularly in Sussex Express. It is essential that
members let him know their results by Monday evening and it would be good to have more
pictures of members wearing club kit.

Any Other Business: There have been problems getting marshalls for club events. Although
not a requirement for members, we do need people to step up and help at events.
Adrian Hills said that Geoff and Jenny Boxall had her brother’s (John Dutson) trophies and
would the club like them. After discussion Adrian was asked to get the from the Boxalls.
Peter Baker said that the long distance BAR included a 12hr event. As there were only 4
events in the country in 2022 should this event be removed?
Adrian Hills proposed keeping it for 2023
Joe Benians proposed an extra 25 instead of the 12 hour. This was agreed unanimously.
Timekeepers: Richard Meed is relied on a lot for timekeeping. 2 timekeepers are required at
each event. There is training available. Members would need to act at club events for 2
years which would then qualify them to officiate at open event.
There being no further business, the meeting closed at 9:25pm
