Bognor Regis CC 10 miles on Thursday the 17th June
Ron Rogers set a new club best at 10 miles on vets standard with a +6m36s, beating the previous record held by Ken Stevens. Ron now holds the club vets record for 10; 25; 30 & 100 miles. Ron's next mission is to beat Horry's 50 mile mark of +30m22s to complete the full set.
Fastest Rider: John Sharples in 20m36s
On a cool damp overcast morning Dave Pollard added The Lewes Wanderers 30 mile Championship to his growing list of victories. In a time that broke the course record by 39 seconds held previously by ex Wanderer John Limpus, Dave also finished fastest on vets standard and second on handicap. A disappointing low number of entries meant that only eight Lewes riders started the event. Chris Martin ended up as best of the rest also winning the handicap award.
Chris Hough and Peter Baker DNS. There were three entries on the line (details below).
Southern Counties CU 50 miles
Shane Faulkner completed the fastest Sussex 50 of the year by a Wanderer, beating Dave Pollards effort on the Norwood Paragon 50 by 15 seconds. This result gives Shane the edge in his battle to retain the club short distance BAR. With the Bognor 50 (the only other Sussex 50 left) clashing with the ESCA 100. Dave will have to choose between the two (ESCA BAR or Club Short Distance BAR? decisions, decisions!)
Fastest Rider: Peter Main in 1h51m37s
Charlotteville CC 25 miles
The fast H25/8 course in conjunction with near perfect Saturday afternoon conditions allowed Chris Lord and Graham Jeffs to demonstrate their speed and produce more than respectable times. Chris had to use his spare bike at the last minute after finding a crack in the frame of his race bike.
Fastest Rider: Malcolm Cox in 52m11s
Dave Pollard won the Sussex CA 50 mile Championship adding it to last years ESCA 50 victory. Shane Faulkner battled his way to the finish, despite his strong dislike of events over 25 miles. Dave and Shane along with Peter Baker won the award for fastest Sussex team.
