Press ReportsDuring the racing season I write and submit a report on Monday evening to the Sussex Express and The Courier covering the activities of our club members over that weekend. Where possible I send a photograph from that weekend, if not I use a topical one from my archive collection. The papers normally use my material, but do edit and sometimes cut part of the article and they don’t always use the photo. The Argus: Brian Hutton writes a piece every Thursday, this mainly reports on the winners of local events over the previous weekend. Chris Martin

In 2008 we produced 45 articles between 14th January & 15th December and submitted each to The Sussex Express and The Courier. The Sussex Express published every article and photo. The Courier used every article and 40 of the photos. These photos, some single riders and some group shots, featured 52 different Wanderers. Mark Winton and Peter Baker topped the appearance charts, both appearing in four different shots.
In 2007 we produced 40 articles (1 a week) between 11th March & 10th December and submitted each to The Sussex Express and The Courier. Every article appeared in at least one of the two papers. The articles appeared in both publications on 35 occasions. With the articles, we submitted 40 different photos, 38 of which appeared in at least one publication. These photos, some single riders and some group shots, featured 45 different Wanderers. Peter Barling topped the appearance charts, appearing in six different shots, Mark Winton & Andy Cox had their image in on five occasions. Peter Baker, John Mankelow and Spencer Coleman all appeared three times.
In 2006 we produced 34 articles between 3rd March and 24th November and submitted them all to The Sussex Express and The Courier. Every article appeared in at least one of the two papers. With the articles we submitted 33 different photos, all of which appeared in at least one publication. These photos, some single riders and some group shots featured 33 different Wanderers. Mark Winton topped the appearance charts, appearing in seven different shots, Andy Cox was runner up getting his image in on five occasions.

Send me your results. This is my eleventh season delivering the results service for the Wanderers Website. This is my third year as Editor of the Club Magazine 'The Wanderer' and I'm also Club Press Secretary. I don’t publish separate results on this Website. I publish all the results I get only in ‘The Wanderer’ (club magazine). I list the events and dates on these pages so that you can view the appropriate magazine. The magazines are available as PDF downloads. Results info on all competitions i.e. the Classic League, The Middlemarkers Competition and the Club BAR will also be in the magazine.
I am still intending to complete the Archive pages covering my years as a Wanderer (1996 - 2007). How can you help me? Can members please email or phone me with results, reports, photos etc. I need these by Sunday evening if you want any chance of being in the paper. I report our results to the Courier and the Sussex Express. I have no power to make them use our stuff, all I can say is that I try and make their deadlines, keep the articles as interesting as possible and send photos. So please make my life easier and get your results in the club magazine and in the papers.

There will not be a January edition of the Wanderer. No. 225 February's edition will be on-line by 1st February 09
Above is a photo of 22 Wanderers taken after the ESCA Reliability Trial on 23rd November 2008. The club won the competition with 22 counters. On a truly horrendous day that started with snow, ice, cold and wind, with the snow being replaced by torrential rain, the Wanderer’s challengers were decimated.
